cogneu et entendu d’un chacun, commençant par le motif qui nous fit entreprendre un si fascheux et lointain voyage,
je diray briefvement quelle en fut l’occasion.

This Kindle edition is a faithful copy of the 1880 edition by Paul Gaffarel in XVI century french language (without Gaffarel notes), online at the french Wikisource website (Wikipedia family). It copies exactly the ebook on the site (free, but not Kindle compatible). It is a good idea, because the Wikisource ebook is technicaly very good. Other (and more expensive) Kindle editions are drawn from the same website, but technicaly of lesser standing, some really bad. Give the extra money to Wikimedia foundation, to help the creation of other good numeric books. (sorry for my bad english; I am french, you know).
